Tiny Eyes: A poem about new motherhood

For no one told me I could feel a love so deep. Tiny eyes staring up at me.
Imagine me being the whole world
To someone so new

Motherhood is busy
Constantly moving, planning, and preparing
It’s the slow moments that matter
The playtime and story time
I look in wonder and awe at this child all mine and yet so much of both me and his father.

The speed of his growth I cannot fathom
How fast time truly does fly
Newborn, infant, toddler
Kid, teenager, adult
I am grateful to witness the everyday growth.

One day I’ll recount to you all the amazing things you are and how you taught me to love myself
To embrace change
To rest
