Today, Mariah Carey releases her new album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. This is her 14th studio album and 1st album after having her beautiful twins which can be heard on the album.
Lesson 1. The title. The first part of the album is titled Me. I am Mariah, after a self poritrait Mariah drew when she was three years old. In the iTunes Radio, First Play playlist. Mariah tells listeners, how much of a treasure this portrait has been to her over years and how she has always tried to remain herself. Many artists in the music industry tell of how hard it is to remain true to self in a world that is constantly trying to change them.
If your childhood self could see you now, what would she think? Would she be proud, surprised or disappointed?
Lesson 2. In addition to Me. I Am Mariah… the next part of the album is titled The Elusive Chanteuse, known as one of her many monikers. Chanteuse is defined as “a female singer of popular songs, especially in a nightclub”. Elusive is defined as “difficult to find, catch, or achieve”. Combined the title would mean, Me. I Am Mariah = I am myself and I know who I am, I am a singer that is often hard to contain.
If you had a self titled piece of work, what would it be titled? Mine would be, Me. I Am Jessica… The Poetic Writer or something of that sort.
Lesson 3. Track 10 “Meteorite”, let your light shine. Be who you are to the point that you are a force so bright no one can dull your light.
How do you let your light shine?
