Last Saturday night, the ladies of Peek-A-Boo Pretty Girl hosted for a second year, Saturday Night Love, a party with art and a purpose. This year the venue was popular night spot, Rue 77 located in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. This was an evening filled with great music, Spoken Word, live painting and fruity cocktails.
The featured artists included, original singer/songwriter Niecy Blues, Local artist Goose Rage from the 803 Clique, Poet Queen T, (Tammaka Staley), Visual artists Distortedd and Fart.PDF The evening was not amiss with creativity, with good vibes from Niecy Blues, Goose Rage and Queen T to amazing artwork from Fart.PDF and Distortedd.
This was a night for the quirky, cool millennials of the Met to have a good time with a few good drinks. The ladies of Peek-A-Boo pretty girl, treated guests to good vibes on a Saturday night. As a party with a purpose, The proceeds of the night went towards the organization’s Pretty Powerful Scholarship. “The award will go to a junior or senior woman attending a 4 year College/University, maintaining a 3.3 GPA with an entrepreneurial mindset for her community. The goal of the scholarship is to allow more women to complete their degree programs and graduate with minimal debt.” It feels good to be a part of a powerful event that encourages creative careers in a space where black people can encourage one another to continue to do great things for themselves and the community. I look forward to the next event, hope to see you there.
