Behold South Carolina’s first ever natural hair beauty pageant. The founders behind Quench Natural Beauty Boutique, Co-owners and Columbia-natives, Jessica E. Boyd and Maureen A. Ochola, hope to open Columbia’s first specialty beauty supply store for women with natural hair.
The beauty pageant will feature a variety of Columbia residents between the ages of 19 and 26. A requirement of the contest is that the contestants wear their hair all natural for the pageant. The competition will be judged according to their enthusiasm poise, audience response in the categories of the introduction (20%), Career Wear/On-stage Q&A (25%), Hair (25%), Formal Wear (15%) and Financial (15%).
The natural sista that is crowned MISS NATURALLY CROWNED CAROLINA will win a $1,000 Scholarship or Start-up Business Funding, Crown, Sash & Trophy and a One-Year Supply of LAMIK Beauty Products. The 1ST RUNNER-UP will win a $750 Scholarship or Start-up Business Funding and a Trophy. The 2ND RUNNER-UP will win a $500 Scholarship or Start-up Business Funding and a Plaque.
“The inaugural Miss Naturally Crowned Carolina pageant will be held on April 12, 2014, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the S.C. Department of Archives & History auditorium at 8301 Parklane Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29223.
